Scheduling sorting

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

You can now sort your schedules based on key areas. Each user has their own saved sort order so they can manage their schedules quickly and easily.

When I try and add a schedule, I receive the error ‘The maximum allowed scheduled time for this department is 8 hours , this schedule exceeds that.’

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

As part of the rule setup, one of the values you enter is the maximum shift time. This prevents supervisors from over-scheduling employees. If you need to make this change, go to

MANAGE MY BUSINESS->MANAGE DEPARTMENTS

and edit the department in question.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Internet Explorer

By default, Internet Explorer does not print background colors. To change that:

  1. Select Page Setup from the menu toolbar in your browser.
  2. Place a check beside the checkbox with the words “Print Background Colors and Images”
  3. Click the OK button

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla should already have this enabled. The steps are similar Internet Explorer, if you are having issues:

  1. Select Page Setup from the File menu.
  2. Place a check beside the checkbox with the words “Print Background (colors & images)”.
  3. Click the OK button

Google Chrome

At the moment (version 7 of Chrome) there is no way to print background colors in Chrome. A lot of people have pointed this out to Google so I have to assume they’ll fix this in future releases.

Apple Safari

At the moment (version 5 of Safari) there is no way to print background colors in Safari for Windows. On a Mac, Safari prints background colors just fine.

Should I use shift or department based rules?

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

Here is an explanation of both types of rules:

Department Rules – If the grace periods and length of breaks/meals are dictated by the department.

Shift Rules – If the grace periods and length of breaks/meals are dictated by the shift length.

One question that may help you decide which is best to use for your company:

Is there ever a time that the meal break length changes based on how long they work?

ex. 5 hours they get a 30 minute break and 8 hours, they get a 60 minute break?

If you answer YES to the above question, you should select SHIFT RULES.

If you answer NO to the above question, meal length is always the same, you should select DEPARTMENT RULES.

How do I approve my timecards

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

To approve timecards, go to TIMECARD & PAYROLL-> Review, Update and Approve Time Cards

Pick a department and you will see a list of yellow and green entries.

Green are approved, the employee clocked in based on the schedule and grace period you entered so we assume it is right (you can edit if need be). Yellow need to be approved, so beside the ‘paid’ entry is an icon, click it and edit the values.
